Connection trample Centre Bath Estate
Playing at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium on Wednesday night, Toussaint found the nets in the 16th, 39th and 56th while Bartholomew was on target in the 65th, 81st and 88th, to give W Connection an easy 17-1 win on aggregate.
A Hughton Hector hat-trick had handed them a 5-0 win in the first leg at Windsor Park in Dominica last week.
Jonathan Frias got the Trinidadian side off to an enterprising start when he scored twice within the first seven minutes. Toussaint opened his account in the 16th minute to extend the lead to 3-0 before Kurlson Benjamin offered temporary respite for the Dominican side with a 26th minute strike.
As if spurred on by Centre Bath Estate response, W Connection raised the intensity with Gerald Williams (36th), Toussaint (39th) and Cristian Viveros (44th) scoring before half-time to propel the hosts to a 6-1 advantage at the break.
Things only grew worse for the Dominicans thereafter. Eder Aras added to the tally with a 52nd minute strike before Toussaint completed his hattrick in the 56th to push W Connection into an eight 8-1 lead.
Bartholomew then staged his show, scoring in the 65th before following up with goals in the 81st and the 88th, between a single strike from Kerron Smith in the 82nd minute.
In Paramaribo, hosts Inter Moengo Tapoe went down 1-0 to Dutch side CSD Barber in their return leg but won the tie 3-2 on aggregate.
Vaylison Lake’s 14th minute strike proved the deciding factor but the Surinamese hung on, following their 3-1, first-leg win, to ensure their safe passage through to the next round. (CMC)
