Professor Ramesh Deosaran speaks on politics

The lecture is sponsored as the Fifth Annual Lecture by the George Carlington Simmons Caribbean Book Collection. Professor Deosaran will also deliver the same lecture to a different audience at 9 am at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Port-of-Spain.

As a criminologist and social scientist, he will discuss the heated relationships between politics and race, crime and ethnicity, the ways in which political opinion polls help inflame ethnic passions, and as well, the tensions between globalisation and the clash of cultures around the world. Patron of tomorrow’s lecture will be Sir Ellis Clarke.

Previous patrons and lecturers in the series include President George Maxwell Richards; Principal of UWI Cave Hill Campus Professor Hilary Beckles; Prime Minister of Barbados Owen Arthur and Professor Marcus Lewis of Northwestern University, USA.
