Beach football launch July 10

THE third annual Beach Invitational Five-a-Side Tournament carded for June 26-27 at Maracas Beach will be launched at 6.30 pm on July 10 at the Pelican Inn.

With the growing popularity of Five-a-Side Beach Football in Brazil, Florida, Australia, California and Europe Coca-Cola has once again joined with Beach Boys Football Promotions founders of the Blue Ribbon Indoor Soccer Tournament to host this tournament at Maracas Beach.  The indoor soccer tournament has been played at the Chinese Association in St Anns for 15 years and the organizers wish the same longevity for the beach football tournament with the view of involving foreign teams playing on these shores as early as next year.14 teams will be involved in an Open Division competition over the tow day weekend with the introduction of a four team Women’s Tournament also on the cards, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Roger Boynes will be present to open the tournament on July 26.
