Fire razes two-storey house in Siparia

Twenty-nine-year-old Brian Sheppard is now  counting his losses after his house was completely destroyed by fire  on Friday night. According to reports the blaze started at Sheppard’s two-storey home at La Brea Trace, Siparia,   around 6.45 pm and quickly enveloped the structure. A team of fire officers from the Siparia  fire station arrived on the scene, led by Fire Sub Officer Pustam. The team included fire officers Calder, James, Constantine, Ramjattan and Reyes, but there was little they could do to save the building. Cpl Rampersad and PC Jack of the Siparia police station also visited the scene.
 
According to reports they experienced difficulties getting to the house because of a land slip in the vicinity. A  Galant motor car worth $6,000 which was parked below the house was also destroyed. The total in damages  including household appliances  was estimated at $35,000. The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
