Persaud new secondary cricket boss
FORBES PERSAUD was elected president of the Secondary Schools Cricket League (SSCL) for the 2003-2004 season. The El Dorado Secondary School teacher defeated incumbent Roy Jagroop-singh of Naparima 34 votes to 24 during the league’s annual general meeting at the Sir Frank Worrell Development Centre, Balmain, Couva, on Friday last. Persaud, who served as the SSCL general secretary for the past 14 years, will have as his deputy Earl Best of QRC, with Arjoon Ramlal of Manzanilla High School second vice-president. Former national off-spinner Surujdath Mahabir of Carapichaima Senior out-voted Tranquillity’s Paul Clarke 31-24 for the post of secretary. First assistant secretary is Kelvin Kanhai of North Eastern College. Anastasia Griffith of Tranquil was elected unopposed as second assistant secretary. Also returning to the executive are William Wallace of Carapichaima (PRO), Dian-ne Joshua of San Fernando (treasurer), and Collin Allahar (auditor).
