Fitness test for injured Bravo
Trinidad and Tobago batsman Dwayne Bravo will have to undergo a fitness test before his team’s crucial Red Stripe Bowl clash against the Windward Islands on Thursday at Kensington Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
This was revealed by manager of the team Omar Khan yesterday. Speaking to Newsday from the team’s hotel, Khan said the main concern is the injury to Dwayne Bravo. Bravo was injured while practising at Melbourne before the match against Canada and has been ruled out until Saturday.” Originally Dr Akash Mansingh gave him until Saturday but he has made such good progress that he will have a fitness test tomorrow and Thursday and once we are happy he will be on the team to face the Windwards on Thursday,” Khan said.
TT have made an excellent start to their campaign to win the Red Stripe Bowl crown. So far they have recorded victories over the Leewards XI and Canada. Khan said he wasn’t happy with the batting. “At present our openers are not doing as well as we would like. They are getting out cheaply and this puts pressure on the rest of the batting. The more experienced players on the team like Brian Lara, Dinanath Ramnarine and Mervyn Dillon have all lead by example and we hope the youngsters can now take pattern and get things right as we head for the knockout stage,” he said.
