Outswinger totes 56.5k in Durant Memorial

OUTSWINGER, Fromnowuntil and Fantastic Lad were allotted topweights of 56.5 kilos for three handicaps on the Arima Race Club Day 31 card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Saturday.

There are ten horses left in for the feature Eric “Colt” Durant Memorial Trophy, and Outswinger will hump  the top weight in the 1725 metres turf event. The Jack Debideen-trained gelding, runner-up to Sugar Mike in the Sagicor Independence Cup, has been asked to hand out between one kilo to Invincibility, 2.5 kilos to Phantom Bidder to 10.5 kilos to Sure Wager at the bottom of the handicap in the event named after the legendary trainer, popularly known as  the Maestro of Marabella, who died on October 7, 2001. But a different set of weights were allotted runners should the contest be shifted to the main course.

If the shift becomes necessary, the race will be run over 1750 metres and the weights among the top trio have been  reversed to favour Out-swinger, who will carry 54 kilos, and will be in receipt of 2.5 kilos from Phantom Bidder who will become the toip weight with 56.5 kilos, and 1.5 kilos from Invincibility. Fromnowuntil has been placed at the top of the handicap in the eight-runner imported maidens race over 1100, and Fantastic Lad will tote his burden against ten West Indian-bred three-year-olds, yet to win two races, over 1750 metres.
