TT woman for US football symposium
TRINIDAD and Tobago will have a lone representative at the first-ever FIFA Women’s Football Symposium.
That official is national women coach Marlon Charles, who was scheduled to leave yesterday for the two-day symposium. He will be among representatives from more than 130 national associations to converge on Westin Long Beach Hotel, Shanghai Room, 2nd Floor 333 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, California, for the symposium which begins today and concludes on Friday.
The goal of the FIFA Women’s Football Symposium is the exchanging of ideas and information on the strategic development of all levels of the women’s game worldwide. Over the two-day symposium, representatives will work together, exploring potential methods for improving the quality and quantity of female footballers at the global level, with assistance and instructions for national associations with varying development levels of the women’s game.
Some issues to be tackled will be women’s player/coach/league development, the improvement of media and sponsor visibility, as well as plans for the integration of women’s programmes in national and regional associations around the world. Members of accredited media for the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA 2003 for which Germany and Sweden have qualified for the final, will be allowed to attend.
