PowerGen coaching 2nd phase Saturday

SECOND phase of the PowerGen cricket coaching programme will get underway on Saturday at 24 centres across Trinidad and Tobago.

Coaches from the six cricketing zones were on hand at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) yesterday to collect gear for the programme. West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Territorial Development Officer Kumar Rampat speaking to Newsday said: “We are now entering the second phase of the programme and so far things have gone really well this season. “During the first phase there were some 4,000 boys and 200 girls attending  the sessions and this showed that we were doing the right thing. “For the second phase which starts on Saturday we are paying particular attention to the South Western peninsular and the East West corridor. “There are many talented cricketers from these parts and we want to reach out to them and unearth them,” he added. PowerGen who has been sponsoring the programme for the past couple of years since inception, has decided to outfit the coaches with all the necessary tools for the programme. Coaches were given cricket bags which included bats, balls, pads, protectors, helmets, arm guards and medical kits yesterday.
