Amen romp in Full Gospel f/ball

CUREPE AMEN are virtually guaranteed a spot in the second phase of qualification in the knockout phase of the Excel/Christian Printers Full Gospel Churches Football League.

In the first leg of their back-to-back matches against Dominion (DOXA) at St Joseph last weekend, Curepe strolled to a resounding 13-1 victory. Leading the way for the hosts were Kieron King and Allan Lewis, who each netted a hat-trick, with Anton Spring adding a pair and one each from Kerwyn Smart, Kareem Jack, Timothy Maloney, Roger Smith and captain Sean Charles. Shekinah Worship Centre overcame a 2-1 deficit at the half, stormed back to defeat Global Encounter Ministeries (GEMS) 3-2 in their first leg battle at Maloney.

Jarson Arvaley notched a pair for Shekinah while Raymond Villafana added the other with Edwin Humphreys and Anton Crichlow on target for GEMS, who must win tomorrow’s battle at the Macoya Recreation Ground to advance to the next phase. Grande Praises, trailing 4-2 at the halftime interval, had their prayers answered in the second stanza, scoring six unanswered goals to defeat AME Ballplayers 8-4 in their first leg confrontation at the Aranguez Savannah. And the pressure is now on Ballplayers to win by a four-goal margin in today’s return fixture, also at the Aranguez Savannah, from 1.15 pm. Two first-round matches will begin today from 1.15 pm, with Bethel hosting Destiny Warriors at the Larry Gomes Training Field, Arima while Woodbrook square off against DM Lyons at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.
