Officers of Central Division believe they may be able to solve more than 30 break-ins and larceny with the arrest of three 13-year-old schoolboys, and the seizure of stolen items valued over $100,000.

The three teenagers were arrested early yesterday by a party of officers led by Inspector Burt Raphael and including Sgt Dennis Housend and Ag Sgt Ajith Persad. Police also recovered a clock stolen from the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on September 12. The court was discovered broken into on September 12 and a clock along with a number of discs with confidential information on court cases were missing. Police officers also recovered a television set, which was stolen from the Ramsaran Street, Chaguanas, home of Mayor Suruj Rambachan. Rambachan’s home was broken into six months ago. The Chaguanas Mayor was informed that the television set was recovered and he heaped praise on the police. Police also recovered items stolen from the home of District Medical Officer Dr Khatri.

The teenagers also confessed to other break-ins and larceny at several business places and homes at Orchard Gardens, Lange Park and Ramsaran Park, Chaguanas. The suspects yesterday accompanied police officers to several homes and business places. Some of the victims were unaware that they had been robbed. Police officers recovered some of the stolen items at the homes of the teenagers. Some of the items were sold to members of the public. The items recovered included cell phones, shoes, clothing and electronic items. All the break-ins occurred at night. Other officers taking part in the exercise included Cpl Peterkin, and PCS Sheppard, Harriet, Toolaram and Corbette.
