Lequay stresses integrity in cricket
ALLOY LEQUAY, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) recently told South Zone cricketers that he has officiated with integrity to the very end of his tenure.
The evergreen Lequay was at the time delivering an address at the South Zonal Council annual prize giving at Syne Village, Penal on Saturday. “I have been involved in the administration of cricket for the past 47 years and the one thing that was never in question is my integrity. “Today I am about to exit the scene and I must say that I am very happy that I leave with my integrity intact. We at the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) have made all our negotiations above board and hence this is why I stand confident in saying that the Cricket Board Tobago is one of the kind in this country,” the veteran administrator said.
Lequay will resign as president of the TTCB when there will be an election to find a new leader on October 25 at the National Cricket Centre (NCC), Balmain Village, Couva. Lequay and his executive have thrown his support behind his deputy, first vice president Ellis Lewis. Former West Indies wicketkeeper Deryck Murray is making a challenge for the top post and a two-way fight is in the making. A total of 43 votes will be up for grabs. There will also be two other challenges to members of the current executive. Long serving history master at Presentation College, Lalman Kowlessar will be going up against national coaching director Baldath Mahabir for the post of second vice-president. And newly elected president of the Secondary Schools Cricket Council (SSCC), Forbes Persaud will come up against general secretary Anand Daniel.
