Tigers burning bright in N/Zone
FOR THE third straight year, St Anthony’s can be crowned winners of the North Zone of the British Gas Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL).
The “Westmoorings Tigers” need only a point from today’s match against the bottom-placed Diego Martin, at the St Anthony’s Grounds, to be assured of the title. Second-placed QRC, who have completed their alloted 14 matches, have 28 points, the same as the Tigers but with an inferior goal-difference. Only Malick have a mathematical chance of claiming the crown but the odds are staked against them. They are due to face the Tigers in their final Zone Championship clash on Saturday. Malick must defeat Fatima, who have sealed fifth spot in the Zone, today at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo to keep their title aspirations alive. Today’s other fixture will see Mucurapo battling against the struggling St Mary’s at the Fatima Grounds.
