Fortunate Flag flies at exercise

FORTUNATE FLAG looked to have come on for his races and is expected to give a good account of  himself in the Starter Allowance feature on the Arima Race Club Day 32 card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima tomorrow. The Kenneth De Silva-trained colt has not been running up to his true mark since winning back-to-back races in May but, showed signs he was coming back to his best with a pleasing gallop over the last 1000-metres of the exercise course on Wednesday. Working from the 1000-metres marker in the backstretch with raceday rider Carlos Marquez aboard, the American-bred three-year-old seemed to be ambling along early before picking up from the 600-metre marker to post 1: 03.71 seconds on the clock.

Pyrite Tale and an unamed son of D D Walton from the Grant Lourenco barn are runners to keep an eye out for when making their debut.
Both chestnut juveniles, apart from their handeome looks, continued to show ability at gallops.Schooling from the boxes on Wednesday the pair stuck  to each from the 1200 metres marker to the 600 metres pole in registering 35.00 seconds flat. Sure Honey, Born To Charm and Chief Of Staff were others to have closed off their gallops for the West Indian-bred juvenile maiden on a good note. Sure Honey paced the backstretch with Ricardo Jadoo astride, and when asked a question from the top of the straight quickened in good style to post 24.29 seconds. Chief Of Staff who will be making his bow in tomorrow’s 1100-metres sprint did a similar gallop, covering the acreage from the top of the straight to the winning line in 23.49 seconds. Born To Charm had stablemate Noble Man as companion working from the boxes, and  the pair was timed between the 1200 and 800 metre markers in 23.06 seconds. Other pleasing runs over the last two days came from Duke’s Jason, Little Maniram, Pile Of Cash, Undercover Angel and Squeezed Moment, Storming Wind, Mary Magdalene, Principle, and Twist N’Turn.
