Cycling warm-up in south

PEDALLISTS preparing for next weekend’s fifth stage of the Tour de Guyana will be in action from 1.30 pm today on the streets of San Fernando. The Anthony Commissiong Sport and Culture Promotions has organised a road race of the circuit (the type which will be used next weekend) beginning at Cipero Street, with the cyclists going along Sutton Street, Independence Avenue to the Rienzi-Kirton Highway. From the Highway, the wheelsmen will turn into Skinner Park and back to the finish line, in front of Ramasir’s Auto Parts, Repair and Car Wash, Cipero Street. The main event is a ten-lap race over 40 miles, while three-lap races have been planned for veterans over-50, tinymites and unregistered cyclists. Main sponsors are Ramasir’s and Dickie’s Sport Bar while the South Cycling Association will assist in the overall running of the event.
