Top Of The Class shows brilliance
TOP OF THE CLASS showed his true colours at the exercise gallops yesterday lighting up the ordinary morning with another exciting workout in preparation for Saturday’s West Indian Thoroughbred Racing Association race.
The triple crown winner loosened up over 1200 metres on Sunday morning in one minute 21.90 seconds, but returned yesterday to scorch the sand over 800 metres with raceday rider Ricardo Jadoo aboard in 47.28 seconds. His exercise form gave reminders of the awesome speed he displayed leading up to the Royal Oak Derby. You’ve Got Mail and Hollywood Star also showed glimpses of things to come. The duo also from the Glenn Mendez stable who heads the wins and monetary categories of the trainers’ championship, had a pleasant gallop together over the same trip in 49.43 seconds. Upset All was the other to show some spark on the otherwise dull morning. The Maniram “Boboy” Maharaj-trained who seems to be coming along with his races, was sent to the boxes for schooling.
