Diego whip Bishop Anstey in north n-ball
ALICIA MCDOWELL sent a stark messasge to all defenders when she netted 21 goals for Diego Martin Junior Secondary to whip Bishop Anstey 37-5, as action in the North Zone of this year’s British Gas Secondary Schools Netball got underway at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mu-curapo.
Monday’s match was over as a contest early in the first half, and with Oneka Borrel scoring 15 goals and Avion Mdneoza one, the Diego Girls romped to victory. Crystal Antoine got four goals and Stacey Honore the other for Bishop Anstey. But champions Mu-curapo Senior Compre-hensive will have to wait another day before starting the defence of their title, as their fixture against Diego Martin Secondary was postponed. Goal-attack Rhonique Williams slotted in 14 goals to lead South East Port-of-Spain to a comfortable 21-11 victory over Excel Composite. Sherene John scored the other four goals. Makeda King netted 10 goals and Laverne Ber-keley one for Excel. And Success/Laven-tille Composite had a winning start 21-9 over Malick Senior Compre-hensive, with goal-attack Ghaaliya O’Brien scoring 13 goals. Tenesha Price five and Shernekia Williams three added the other goals for the winners, while Sally Currency six and Giselle Antoine three got goals for Malick.
Action in the North Zone continue today: Mucurapo Junior Secondary vs Corpus Christi; Belmont Junior Secondary vs South East PoS; Tranquillity vs St Martin’s High; St Joseph’s Convent vs Malick. All matches are timed to begin 3.30 pm at Jean Pierre Complex.
Central zone matches: Couva Junior Secondary vs Miracle Ministries; Holy Faith Convent vs Cunupia. All matches begin 1 pm at Centrasl Regional Indoor Sports Arena.
