Raptors dent Shak Attack

Ako Pascal scored a season high 31 points to lead Marabella Raptors to a 100-85 win over Detour Shak Attack as the National Basketball Championship continued at the Southern Indoor Arena, Pleasantville, San Fernando on Monday. Supported by 28 points and four rebounds from Damian Caton and 20 from Louie Davis, who also had one rebound and an assist, Pascal had six assists and two rebounds as Raptors led all but the second quarter to take an eventual comfortable win. Raptors led 20-9 at the end of the first quarter, 49-45 by the end of the third but went down 34-32 at the half.

Virgil Frazer with 19 points and five rebounds kept Shak Attack in the match, while Terrance Mayers had 16 points, one assist and five rebounds; and Dexter Lewis put in ten with three assists and three rebounds. But their combine efforts could not get past the  Raptors. In Game One on the night Edinburgh 500 Hawks took a ten point 71-61 victory over Sangre Grande All Stars with Noel Rochford scoring a team high 16 points. Marlon Alexander contributed 15 points to the effort and Curtis Emmanuel put in 12 and all three had five rebounds to take Hawks home. All Stars put up a good resistance as Jason Friday scored a game high 19 points and five rebounds, with 12 from Roger Springer who also had two assists and nine rebounds and Kevin Placide with 15 points, two assists and five rebounds. But the stubborn Hawks would not relinquish the lead or the win.
