Joe Public destroy Tobago United

THE “Eastern Lions” Joe Public registered their biggest win of the season, thrashing a hapless Tobago United 6-1 at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna yesterday as the TT Pro League continued.

Striker Ochieng Abosi began the rout for the Lions in the 21st, while the hosts got their second courtesy of an own goal from Leeton Warrick in the 41st. Abosi got his second in the 58th and the match was over as a contest when Christian Freitas found the back of the net a minute later. From an Abosi pass, Garvin McKenna blasted his 20-metre drive past Tobago goalkeeper Brian James in the 79th but the lads from the sister isle pulled back one via a deflected Nicholas Job freekick in the 85th. But Joe Public were not done yet, as midfielder Sterling O’Brien capitalised on a goalmouth scramble in stoppage time, tapping the loose ball into the open net. Defence Force overtook South Starworld Strikers in fourth spot after a 2-1 win over Arima Fire at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, Arima on Thursday night.
