Who are NEDCO’s recipients?

THE EDITOR: It appears that the latest revelation on the spending spree at the National Entrepreneurship Program (NEDCO) is the ultimate in PNM squandermania. If what UNC member of parliament Roodal Moonilal said is proven correct, it means that the PNM gave out over $18M to party supporters and relatives prior to the October 7, 2002 general elections.

Why is the PNM hiding the names of the NEDCO recipients?  Why the secrecy?  Is it that the people getting the NEDCO millions are the same who got the CEPEP contracts? This is a shame and a scandal.  We must call Transparency International to demand that the PNM government open the books on NEDCO.  Is it that they intend to spend over $300M before the next elections to buy votes?  In this country people don’t have water in their pipe for months and the government spends such millions on loans for friends.  The police must investigate and charge as they did with UNC related allegations of corruption.
