Cricket Board $$ for handicapped
The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) have handed over $10,000 to the Princess Elizabeth Home to help relieve the distress caused by flood from heavy rains two weeks ago.
The handing over took place during the board’s inaugural Charity Dinner at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain on Thursday night. Newly elected President of the TTCB, Ellis Lewis addressed the gathering and said he intends to forge a close relationship with the charitable organisation FEEL (Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life). “We intend to do more in the form of charity as our board’s prayer states ‘serving humanity through cricket. We are very happy to be in a position to help those unfortunate ones and we are going to continue his what we have started today,” said Lewis.
Delivering the feature address was chairman of TIDCO, Brian Harry who touched on the economic benefits of hosting the 2007 Cricket World Cup. He said that the Caribbean countries will be playing hosts to over 100,000 visitors and hat Trinidadians Tobagonians must sell ‘brand TT’ in the best possible way to get future benefits. TTCB Marketing Officer Suruj Ragoonath spearhead of the successful effort and he plans to continue more of the same in an effort to use cricket as a tool to better the lives of people in Trinidad and Tobago.
