Special Olympians in hockey action

SPECIAL Olympians from five centres will vie for honours in Floor Hockey today.

The action is scheduled to take place at the Maloney Indoor Complex from 9 am. Lady Hochoy Home South “A”, Lady Hochoy Home South “B”, Memisa Centre, National Centre for Persons with Disabilities and TTARTC School, and Penal will attempt to win the overall trophy and medals. But play will follow a lavish opening ceremony from 9 am, featuring the raising of the Special Olympics and national flags, a prayer reading by national Special Olympics director Norma James, and welcome address by Games chairman Patrick Rouse. Following  this, Spors and Youth Affairs Minister Roger Boynes and Arouca MP Camille Robinson-Regis will inspect the teams. And later Robinson-Regis, who is also Legal Affairs Minister, will administer the athletes’ oath, while Boynes will declare the Games open.
