Scarborough new Tobago champs

YOUNG striker Maurice Hackett followed his semi-final beaver-trick with a hat-trick on Friday to lead Scarborough RC to the Milo-sponsored Tobago Primary Schools Football Association title. Hackett lit up the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet yesterday with his clever footwork as the Town Boys whipped Charlotteville Methodist 4-1. The 11-year-old striker sent joy among the Scarborough RC supporters when he fired home in 19th minute, and when Kershawn Dates netted an own goal in the 32nd, the Town Boys were on their way to the title. Hackett blasted in goals in the 34th and 37th minutes to ice the victory for his team. And his exploits in Friday’s final won him the “Most Valuable Player” award, to add to the “Golden Boot” which he earned for scoring 21 goals. Earlier at the same venue, Ianglen Alfred scored the only goal of the 40-minute final to give the girls title to Bethesda. They edged Signal Hill 1-0. Belle Garden AC secured the third position among the boys with a 4-0 romp over Buccoo Government. Nimron Toussaint was the hero of the match scoring all four goals for the winners.
