Ames ninth in Chrysler golf

ACE Trinidad and Tobago golfer Stephen Ames shot a final round four under par 67 yesterday to finish  ninth in the US $4.8 million Chrysler Championship at the Westin Innisbrook, Copperhead Course in Palm Harbour, Florida.

Starting the day 11 strokes behind the South African leader Retief Goosen, Ames spiralled up the leader board to complete the championship on a 280 total. In the end he finished eight strokes behind winner Goosen in a four-way tie with Americans Peter Lenard, Brad Faxon and Geoff Ogilvy to earn US $124,800. Ames opened with a round of 74, three over par. He improved with a 67 on the second day but stumbled on the third with a one over 72.
