Arima stroll into East Intercol final

ARIMA BOOKED their spot in the East Zonal final of the RBTT Intercol competition after a 4-1 beating of St George’s at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, Arima yesterday.

And the “Dial Dynamos” will clash with the “Green Machine” St Augustine in Tuesday’s final, also at the Malabar venue. St Augustine needed kicks from the penalty spot to defeat the combative Hillview squad 5-4 at Arima after both teams battled to a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of regulation time and 20 minutes of sudden death injury time. Ace striker Gorean “Mickey Rat” Highley got the first two goals for Arima with Kevon Smith and Devon King adding one apiece for the hosts while Marlon White was the lone goal-getter for St George’s.

Midfielder Dwayne De Four found the back of the net in the 10th minute to give Presentation Chaguanas a 1-0 win over Union Claxton Bay in their Central Zonal semifinal clash at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Balmain, Couva. And, in the second match of the afternoon’s doubleheader, Carapichaima advanced to tomorrow’s final with a 2-1 win over Tabaquite. Anderson Bryce and Julian Lando were on target for Carapichaima while Kerron Woodruffe pulled back one for Tabaquite.
