Police dent Samba men’s pride

POLICE dented the pride of new Eastern Football Association champions Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan on Wednesday.

The lawmen handed the recently-crowned Beasts of the East a 3-1 beating at Boundary Road, San Juan.  Edmond Homer grabbed a double for Police, while Garfield Ambrose got the other.  Brent Edwards got the only goal for the champs. Meanwhile, following a meeting of the league’s executive, the League Cup final scheduled for Sunday has been put on hold. The committee decided to have the Athletico Sports Institute vs TSTT quarter-final match replayed, because the original game was blown off after only 78 minutes.

Wednesday’s replayed fixture ended in  a 1-1 draw with Peter King scoring Athletico and Kedan King for the telecommunications men. But TSTT advanced to the semi-final 4-3 on penalty kicks, and now meet Joe Public in the first-leg on Tuesday at Squadron ground, Arouca.  The second leg is scheduled for Thursday at Valsayn. Winners will meet Crab Connection in the final on a date to be fixed.  In other league action on Wednesday, dethroned WASA Clean & White collected three points when Crab Connection defaulted their game.
