Cedros dominate South West n-ball

CEDROS loom as the team to beat in the South West Zone of this year’s British Gas Secondary Schools Netball League, after comfortably winning both their matches to date.

First the Cedros girls brushed aside Point Fortin 28-7 on opening day, Tuesday last, then they whipped Penal 36-5 on Thursday afternoon. Karen Phillips scored a collective 40 goals in her team’s victories, while goal-attack Giselle Noel netted 24. Point Fortin rebounded from their defeat to whip Siparia Senior Comprehensive 22-7 on Thursday, while yesterday Fyzabad Anglican Secondary handed Penal their second beating.  They won 17-3. In continuing North Zone action, champions Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive steamrolled Malick Senior Comprehensive 45-10 in a Group “Y” match at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo on Thursday. The Mucurapo Girls’ Under-16 national goal-shoot Afeisha Noel had 38 goals from 48 attempts.  Whitney Barclay added four goals from eight and Akeisha Mark three from seven. Sally Currency had six of nine attempts and Giselle Antoine, four of six, scored for Malick.

Success/Laventille Composite beat St Martin’s High School 19-16 in a thrilling match in the same group also on Thursday. Goal-attack Ghaaliya O’Brien scored 10 goals from 22 attempts and goal-shoot Tenisha Price hit nine of 18 for the winners. Adasha Norton got 15 goals from 23 attempts; and sister Patrice had one from six for St Martin’s. Diego Martin Junior Secondary whipped South East Port-of-Spain 18-14 in an exciting Group “X” match with goal-attack Alisha McDowell scoring 16 of her 23 attempts and Onika Borel had two of eight for the winning team.  Rhonique Williams scored nine goals from 14 attempts and Shenesse John hit five of eight for SEPoS.
