East champs get ‘easy’ FA opener

NEW Eastern Football Association champs Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan United received a super first-round draw in this year’s FA Trophy series. When the action kicks off on November 21, the Samba lads will play Police of the AllSport Super League. But current trophy holders W Connection got a tough first-round assignment, as they tangle with the dangerous Defence Force. Like Police, Defence Force will have two teams in the FA, with their Super League men taking on Riverpool of the Northern Football Association.

The lawmen Southern Football Association squad has been drawn against Oriental of the NFA. NFA leaders St Francois Nationals are set to play Carib FC of the EFA, while national kings CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh meet EFA’s Hearty Foods Bulls in their first rounder. Draw for the first round took place at the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence on Saturday, under the guidance of Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation and EFA executive member Neville Ferguson. Here is the first-round FA Draw: Club Sando vs Tobago United; Hearty Foods Bulls vs CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh; Joe Public vs Petrotrin P-a-P; WASA Clean & White vs North East Stars; SWIF vs Cocorite United; Point Fortin Civic Centre vs Valencia United; San Fernando Giants vs Caledonia AIA; TSTT vs Harvard; Joe Public (EFA) vs Couva Players United; Star World Strikers vs La Famille; Diamond United vs Arima Fire; Police (SFA) vs Oriental; Defence Force vs Riverpool; St Francois Nationals vs Carib FC; W Connection vs Defence Force; Police (Super League) vs Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan United.
