Connection need only draw for ‘semi’ spot

DEFENDING football champs W Connection will be looking to secure a semifinal spot in the CONCACAF Club Champion-ships Cup when they meet Surinamese outfit FCS Nacional in the return leg of their first round battle today.

Kick-off time is 6 pm at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. The Savonetta lads won their first leg 3-0 at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium, Paramaribo on Wednesday. They need only a draw to join fellow TT Pro League giants CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh in the semi-finals. The other qualifiers will come from the Arnett Gardens (Jamaica)-Jong Colombia (Netherlands Antilles) match-up as well as the winners of the the CS Barber (N/Antilles)-Portmore United (Jamaica) confrontation also scheduled for today. The semi-finals will be over two legs on November 26 and December 3. Scoring for Connection on Wednesday last were national striker Kendall Davis, St Lucian Titus Elva and Brazilian Gefferson Goulart. But Davis, captain Reynold Carrington and midfielder Ronaldo Viana will miss today’s match because of injury.
