Rhema, Hebron in enticing KO final

Rhema and Hebron have set up an enticing Knock-Out final in the Full Gospel Churches Football League when they both asserted themselves in the semi-finals with identical 4-1 results.

The semi-final between Rhema and Genesis was a repeat of last year’s final which Genesis won. Rhema, bent on revenge applied the pressure early on to force Carlisle Cleveland to score an own goal in the first half. Rhema continued their drive for a place in the final and got two quick items to put the match out of the reach of their opponents. Clinton Corbin put on a show with a blistering solo run through three defenders to put in his “Goal of the Season” contender. Lewellyn Dove scored Genesis’ lone goal. Hebron had to present themselves with a better or equal Curriculum Vitae going into the final. And in their meeting with Deliverance Ministry Lyons four scorers Hardon Mendoza, Stanley Williamson, Jude Rogers and Sean Hinds made victory sure.

Hebron’s custodian was denied a clean sheet when Lyons, who needed to win by three clear goals, got a consolation off the boot of Darel Cumming. The aggregate score after two matches was 9-2 in favour of Hebron. The knock-out final is carded for 5.30 pm on November 22 at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar and will be preceded by an East All Star versus West All Star match at 3.30 pm. The league’s prize giving ceremony will be held on December 6 at a venue to be announced.
