Under-23 footballers for Grenada Olympic qualifier

Trinidad and Toba-go’s Under-23 footballers will leave for St George’s today for Saturday’s second round Olympic qualifier against Grenada.

Men’s national team coach Stuart Charles-Fevrier will be in charge of the team which will also have the services of Defence Force striker Kevon Carter who did not make the recent trip to Guyana due to being called to military training. TT manager George Joseph revealed that Carter would be allowed to fly out with the team and play on Saturday before returning to base on Sunday. “I have been given the assurance by the commander of the TT regiment Col Dillon that Carter will be given the Wednesday night off and will be able to play for the country and return on Sunday,” Joseph said.

Fevrier held his final session with the team on Tuesday and is quietly confident of pulling a win off against Grenada before returning home to play the return leg at the Hasely Crawford Sta-dium, Mucurapo next Wednesday. “The players are in a good frame of mind going to Grenada and we are confident that we can get a positive result on Saturday,” Fevrier said. “The recent matches in Guyana have played a major role in our positive spirit and we have learnt not to underestimate the islands. We are well prepared for this encounter as we know that we cannot take anything for granted.”

Jan Michael Williams, Kenwyne Jones, Silvio Spann, Kevin Graham, Sterling O’Brien, Devon Caseman, Ronald Primus, Nigel Daniel, Michael Celestine, Kerry Baptiste, Devon Mitchell, Kevon Clement, Lyndon Diaz, Corey Rivers, Shelton Williams, Kevin Carter, Errol Charles.
