Boynes to unveil W/Cup road map

Sports Minister Roger Boynes announced that Cabinet will soon consider a “road map” developed by his ministry and the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control (TTCBC) for the staging of World Cup Cricket 2007 games here. Speaking at yesterday’s post-Cabinet news conference at Whitehall, Boynes said: “We worked out a ‘road map’ about how we are going to go from here to W/Cup 2007. “We will be taking that to Cabinet next week.” Boynes said he will be meeting with “the dynamic” new Tourism Minister Howard Chin Lee and TIDCO president Brian Harry to discuss new sport tourism initiatives.

The Minister said  national goalkeeper Shaka Hislop’s English Premiership team Portsmouth FC has lined up 12 football teams that are interested in playing exhibition matches against local teams. He said the ministry is on track to establish a National Sports Commission by the end of this fiscal year, and a Cuban sports delegation will be in TT from December 3 to December 10.
