TSTT win but out Cup final
TSTT scored an emphatic 3-0 victory over Joe Public, the Eastern Lions, but still failed to advance to the League Cup final in the Eastern Football Association.
The Eastern Lions will try to catch the Crab Connection in the final tomorrow at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, Tunapuna, from 3.30 pm, while the Telecommunications men could only watch. Having a 4-0 first-league going into Thursday’s second match at Valsayn Recreation ground, Joe Public were completely overrun by TSTT. Trevor Shallowe scored first to lift the Telecommunications’ men hope, and when Kevon Henry added a second, it seemed they were on course for a shock comeback overall victory. But after Shallowe got his double, the third for TSTT, the Eastern Lions battled on ferociously to hold on to the end for a 4-3 aggregate score.
Meanwhile, bottom clubs Delta Glass Young Hearts and BM Spurs played to a 2-2 draw in a league match with Earl Williams scoring both for the Spurs. Roger Phillip and Glenton Sebro got goals for Young Hearts. Crab Connection got a double from Joseph Peters and another goal from Marlon Warner to whip Police 3-1 in another league fixture. The victory saw The Crabs leap-frog the lawmen into fourth spot on the standings on 40 points. Fixtures for today are: Carib vs Samba Xtra Malt East San Juan United, at St Augustine Senior Comprehensive Ground; Police vs WASA, at Constantine Park, Tunapuna; Hearty Food Bulls vs BM Spurs, at Arima Municipal Stadium; Delta Glass Young Hearts vs Athletico Sports, at Boundary Road; TSTT vs East/West Coaching School, at Valsayn. All matches kick off at 3.45 pm.
