Tranquil, Diego tie in British Gas n-ball
TRANQUILLITY and Diego Martin Secondary battled out a 19-19 tie in a North zone Group Y match, as action in the British Gas-sponsored Secondary Schools Netball League continued. Friday’s game at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex was nip and tuck throughout, and despite the good shooting of goal-attack K’Lene Lewis who scored 13 of her 19 attempts for Tranquil, they had to settle for one point. Leanna Pierre added three goals from six attempts and Stephanie Phillips three of eight. But on the other hand, goal-shoot Kelly Ann Francis managed just 18 goals from 30 attempts for the Diego girls. Renee Cornwall got the other. Success/Laventille made light of St Joseph Convent in another game in the same bracket, winning 21-9.
Ghaaliya O’Brien scored 12 goals and Tenesia Price nine for the winners, while Kim Opeters got seven goals and Je-Neile King two for the convent girls. Champions Mucurapo Junior Secondary continued their unbeaten run in Group X with an emphatic 52-13 victory over Bishop Anstey. Nariba Grant was in fine shooting form scoring 38 of her 48 attempts while Anuola Camejo got 14 of 21 for the winning team. Stacey Honore eight and Donalla Adams five scored for Bishop Anstey. Excel Composite scored a close 15-112 win over Belmont Junior Secondary in the other game in the same group. Both Sylvia Gittens and Lavaughn Berkeley scored six goals each and Makeda King netted three for Excel. Kershell Campbell eight and Tiffany Pemberton four scored for the Belmont girls.
