Daredevil Hero one to note in Juvenile Sprint
THE Glenn Mendex-trained colt Daredevil Hero who finished third on debut has gone the right way, and must be in the reckoning for the Imported Juvenile Sprint at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on November 29.
An American-bred son of Devil His Due/Justified showed his form in an 800 metres gallop together with the older Sure Ting, clocking 46.7 seconds. He is one of 12 imported two-year-olds for which final subscriptions have been paid for the 1200 metres event on Caribbean Champion Stakes Day. Mendez is also winding down preparations with his “big horse,” triple crown winner Top Of The Class.
On Monday morning, “The Student” went over 400 metres in a breezy 29.5 seconds. And Top Of The Class who will be seeking victory in the Champion Stakes to add the $750,000 Colonial Life Insurance bonus to his bulging bag. Very few horses were seen galloping Monday and yesterday with the best clocking coming from Seductive who zipped over 400 metres in 23.6 seconds. Trainers are expected to give their charges faster work this morning.
