Royalians seek to cage Tigers again

QRC will be seeking a hat-trick of victories against the “Westmoorings Tigers” St Anthony’s this season, when they face off at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, from 4 pm today. But this time, both teams will meet in the semi-finals of the RBTT National Intercol competition. On the opening day of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL),  September 4, the Tigers whipped the Royalians 2-0 but QRC reversed the fortunes, claiming a 1-0 win on September 25.

And, in the North Zonal Intercol final, the Royalians came from a goal down to dethrone the 2002 champs Tigers 2-1 on November 7. The Tigers will be putting their national Intercol crown on the line against a combative Royalians outfit, who welcome back playmaker Jason Devenish to the fold after missing Monday’s quarter-final against St Benedict’s due to suspension. But lanky midfielder Radanfah Abu Bakr will sit out today’s match as a result of receiving two yellow cards in his team’s last two matches. The Royalians will rely on strikers Aldo Hope and Simba Aberdeen, as well as Devenish and fellow midfielder Mikhail Awai, in order to secure their third straight win against the Tigers. But the Tigers are no pushovers. led by national youth team defender Julius James, the reigning champs will also rest their hopes on fellow defender Yohance Marshall, midfielders Clevon George, Troy Thompson as well as strikers Kevon Neaves and Abiola Sandy.
