Fire burn Police 12-0 in FA
ARIMA FIRE made light work of their fellow servicemen Police yesterday, defeating the Southern Football Association (SFA) 12-0 in second action of the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) FA Trophy.
Striker Ashford Legerton notched a hat-trick in front of a sparse crowd at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar, Arima, while Brent Antoine and Handel Manswell scored two goals each for the TT Pro League club. Antoine opened the scoring after five minutes of play, with Legerton doubling the lead two minutes later. The Firemen went into the dressing room with a 4-0 halftime advantage following further goals by Legerton (17th) and Antoine (23rd), with Legerton completing his treble a minute into the second half.
But Police’s misery did not end there, with further goals from Kayode Legall (48th), Manswell (55th and 58th), Elliot James (60th), Anthony Haynes (65th), Alvris Faure Diaz (70th) and Romauld Aguillera (75th). The “Eastern Lions” Joe Public also joined fellow Pro League club Fire in the quarter-final after a comfortable 4-1 win over Point Fortin Civic Centre at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Tunapuna, with goals from Alvin Beharry, Garvin McKenna, Nkosi Blackman and Kevaughn Connell. And TSTT earned a quarter-final spot after a 3-1 win over the Defence Force’s Super League squad at the TSTT Grounds, Valsayn.
