South hotel robbed
St MARGARETS police are investigating two separate robberies in which bandits made off with a $45,000 car and an undisclosed sum of money, yesterday morning.
In the first incident, around 12.45 am, five men — four armed with guns and one with a knife — stormed into Mikanne’s Hotel at Railway Road, Plaisance Park, Claxton Bay, and announced a hold up. The night-shift operator on duty was robbed of $300. The hotel was packed with foreigners, who police said were also robbed of an undisclosed sum of cash and jewelry. Fifteen minutes later, Sylvestor Corrie was driving along Von Trace Extension, Claxton Bay, when he stopped on the side of the road to check on something. Corrie said two men armed with a gun and cutlass approached his car and announced a hold-up. The bandits dragged Corrie out of the car and dealt him several blows about his body before escaping in his B-14 Sentra. Around 5 am, his car was discovered in St James intact. Investigations are continuing.
