Jamaican Powell in TT cricket trial

WEST INDIES and Jamaican allrounder Ricardo Powell is included in a team  for the second cricket trial in preparation for next year’s Carib Beer Series regional tournament.

Powell who is married to a Trinidadian and now resides here, has been selected in the Shazam Babwah XII for the four-day match scheduled to be played at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva. Teams led by opening batsman Imran Jan and middle-order batsman Babwah will make another attempt to get in some cricket from tomorrow at 10 am. Selected players are asked to turn up at the NCC from 8.30 am. The first scheduled trial match last weekend was completely washed out by heavy rain which left the field unplayable. Also in the Babwah XII is Sherwin Ganga, brother of West Indies batsman Daren who is now on tour of South Africa.

Teams for the trial to be played tomorrow, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are: JAN XII - Imran Jan (capt), Aneil Kanhai, Satish Naidoo, Dwayne Bravo, Kenton Thompson, Reyad Emrit, Samuel Felix, Avidesh Samaroo, Rodney Sooklal, Theodore Modeste, Kieron Lynch, Avalon Cuffie.
