We don’t want you here, Boodoo

THE EDITOR: This is an open letter to the owner of Boodoo’s Funeral Home, Penal. It have lived in El Socorro Road all my life. My grandparents first established their roots here. After many generations I have chosen to remain in this humble neighbourhood. I am able to enjoy all the comforts of urban life and yet my children have trees to climb in their backyard. How dare you Boodoo’s funeral home usurp the peace that generations took to create and set up your funeral service among our homes.

I have no problem with you carrying on your chosen business as you have a right to do. But how dare you impose yourself in our residential area. There are many other areas open for you to set up your business. There are open spaces in the region of El Socorro Extension Road that are available for rent. A man called Rambox from Aranguez has even volunteered his property for you to rent. I am not about to trust the health and safety of my children to you and the competence you have in running a safe funeral service. My children’s lives are too important to place in your hands. For all these years El Socorro Road never had a funeral agency and we never had a problem with obtaining proper funeral services. We definitely do not want you here not at the risk to our physical health. Do the honourable thing and leave us in peace.
