No gay Anglican priests in TT

NO HOMOSEXUALS will be allowed to join the priesthood of the Anglican Church of Trinidad and Tobago but they will not be treated as outcasts by the Church. This was the word yesterday from Anglican Bishop of TT, Calvin Bess, following the ordination of two deacons and seven priests at the Trinity Cathedral in Port-of-Spain on Saturday. “We will care for them and we will help them through that difficulty. In terms of their not being ordained, doesn’t mean they have no part in the Church,” Bess said. He noted that while homosexuals were being ordained as Anglican priests in the United States, the Church’s West Indian province and the Anglican Church in TT were opposed to this practice because it would be contrary to the word of God. Bess added that the newly ordained deacons and priests would boost the Church’s manpower in its pastoral ministries and schools.
