South family in tears
A STE Madeleine family of four, who broke down in tears while standing before a San Fernando magistrate, were granted a total of $200,000 bail yesterday when they appeared charged with illegal possession of arms and ammunition.
The accused persons, Boysie Bissessar, 65, his wife Sylvie Bissessar, 60, and their children Cindy, 31, and Sheldon, 27, appeared before Second Court Magistrate Sonia Aleong charged by PC Hugh Elbourne of San Fernando CID, with possession of a Sig Saur nine-millimetre pistol and four rounds of ammunition. The four pleaded not guilty. The four were arrested and charged last Saturday after police officers executed a search warrant at a house located at Cipero Road, Railway Road, Ste Madeleine.
The family was represented by attorney Ian Seukaran. Boysie Bissessar who walked with a limp was permitted to sit on the bench before the magistrate, while attorney Seukaran told Magistrate Aleong, he (Boysie) was a “heart case.” During court proceedings, the family broke down in tears and shook their heads. Mrs Bissessar clasped her hands as the magistrate ordered a trace, for any criminal records or outstanding court cases, be done on them. Her son appeared in court with his right hand heavily bandaged and in a sling. After the charge was read out, the magistrate granted the four accused persons, $50,000 bail each and ordered that they reappear in court on December 29.
