CoP promises better management of police
AG COMMISSIONER of Police Everald Snaggs has identified four areas that he intends to incorporate in the New Year for better management of the Police Service. “While the crime statistics of this year may be up for public scrutiny, suffice it to say we have achieved some success in our anti-crime operations, but a lot more needs to be done. “We therefore intend to re-double our efforts in the New Year along with the TT Police Service to take strong action against those bent on criminal activities. Indeed, there will be no let up on our aggressive policy to deal with the crime situation. “During the past year, we also saw the need for internal reform of positions for improved service delivery in the 21st century.
“In this regard, you will be pleased to know that our strategies for the upcoming year include the relocation of certain ACPs for better control and management of their divisions, an enhanced training programme for recruits, the integration of the community policing into the Police Service and the deepening of the community policing thrust.” Snaggs made these comments yesterday to the media prior to handing out several awards, certificates and plaques to members of the police band, the victorious police netball team and several others members of the service. The awards was presented at police headquarters. Snaggs also indicated that he will continue to solicit the assistance of the church, public, community groups, schools, corporate citizens and non-governmental organisations to find an end to the current crime menace.
