Call for trial start in Dr Naryansingh’s murder

Members of the non-governmental organisation, Citizens for a Better Trinidad and Tobago are calling on the Government to investigate why the trial against the accused for the murder of Dr Chandra Naryansingh has not yet started. In a release issued by The organisation, the group called for the authorities to start the case immediately as many citizens were continuously losing faith in the judicial system.

CBTT said “The longer the trial takes to begin, the more likely witnesses may either die or migrate, thus assisting the accused and his accomplices.” Dr Naryansingh was shot and killed by a lone gunman in 1993 as she got into her car shortly after leaving her workplace at the Langmore Health Foundation in Palmyra Village, South Trinidad. Some time later a warrant was issued by investigating officers for one Sean Parris, who later was held in Texas in the US. He was subsequently deported to Trinidad, and charged with the 1993 murder of Dr Chandra Naryansingh.
