Teen held for chopping man

A 15-year-old boy who allegedly chopped a 37-year-old man during an argument was remanded into custody by a magistrate yesterday. The teenager, of Guayaguayare, appeared before Magistrate Jai Narine in the Mayaro Magistrates Court charged with wounding with intent. The teen was not called upon to plead to the offence which was laid indictably by WPC Farley. The alleged incident occurred on Friday around 11 pm when the teen was liming and got into an argument with the 37-year-old victim, Malcolm Whiskey.

Reports said the teen left during the heated exchange and returned to the scene with a cutlass, with which he chopped Whiskey on his shoulder, head, and right hand. Whiskey was rushed to the Mayaro District Hospital, and hospital officials contacted the police. Lawmen detained the teen shortly after incident, and took him to court yesterday.
