Dad was stabbed six times in neck
An autopsy carried out on the body of Carlos Phillip, the father of two whose body was fished out of a Longdenville pond on Christmas Day, revealed that death was due to shock and haemorrhage consistent with six stab wounds to the neck. Tissue and blood samples from the stomach of the dead man were sent for further tests. The autopsy was carried out by Dr Borris and witnessed by Sgt Phillip of the Homicide Bureau and Lisa Stoute Phillip, wife of the deceased. Investigators were told that the murder weapon may have been a sharpened knife.
Phillip, a courier with National Helicopter Services, left his La Puerta, Diego Martin home last Tuesday, telling his wife Lisa that he would return later. He instead telephoned her at 9 pm on Tuesday saying that he was at a gas station in Chaguanas and was on his way home. When he failed to return home, relatives lodged a missing person report at the Four Roads Police Station. A wireless message was sent out to all police divisions to be on the lookout for the car belonging to Phillip. Pilots at the National Helicopter Services carried out aerial searches for the car, to no avail. On Christmas day, a Longdenville villager stumbled upon the body of Phillip partially submerged in a caiman infested pond. A party of officers led by Inspector Raphael, Sgt Housend and Ag Sgt Ajith Persad went to the scene. When the body was fished out, it appeared that Phillip’s throat was slit. His hands were tied behind his back. Police have ruled out robbery as a motive for the murder. Agt Sgt Persad is investigating.
