Debe man beaten with iron, wood, stones
A 43-year-old man suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured skull, after he was badly beaten with pieces of iron, wood and large stones, on Monday. Shaffique Ali Khan, of Sumai Trace, Debe, remains warded in a serious condition at Ward 8, of the San Fernando General Hospital. Police are searching for two men in connection with the incident. Khan told police at around 9.30 pm he was standing in front of his home when he was accosted by two men who he knew. The men, armed with pieces of iron and wood, started beating him about his body with the objects.
Khan said he tried to run but collapsed and was again attacked by the men, who picked up large stones and began striking him on his head. After Khan slipped into a semi-conscious state, his attackers ran away. Khan was rushed to the hospital by an EHS ambulance, where he was treated and admitted on Ward 8. PCs Harrysingh and Burke of the San Fernando CID are investigating under the supervision of head of the Southern Division, Snr Supt Dawson Victor.
