New year holds great promise, says PSA head

President of the Public Services Associa-tion Jennifer Baptiste-Primus has assured public servants that the year 2004 holds tremendous promise for them. “Having concluded agreement with the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO), the introduction of the Group Health Plan for public officers is a major benefit that would become accessible very early in the new year”, said Baptiste-Primus in her New Year’s message. “She explained that the cost to each officer would be minimal for a comprehensive range of health-care benefits, inclusive of major medical attention provided either locally or abroad.”

According to Baptiste-Primus, the PSA plans to commence construction of its ultra-modern conference and cultural centre at Long Circular within the second quarter of next year. Baptiste-Primus assured that on completion of the project, members and their children would have access to first class lawn tennis courts, olympic size swimming facilities, a first-class football ground as well as “the most state-of-the-art conference facilities to be found anywhere in Trinidad and Tobago.” In the area of industrial relations, Baptiste-Primus said public officers would very shortly see job evaluation teams at their respective work locations. “In addition, we propose to commence negotiations early for improved salaries and terms and conditions of service for the period 2005 to 2007,” she said. Baptiste-Primus also called on public servants to re-dedicate and re-commit themselves to enhancing their contribution to the creation of higher levels of productivity, exhibiting respect for the values of integrity, honesty and devotion to their creator and family.
