‘Robocop’ arrested in Central

THE Anti Crime  initiative continued on Old Year’s night when officers of the Central division carried out surprise raids and searches in several areas in Central Trinidad. Selwyn Alexis, also known as Robocop, was among 13 persons arrested in the exercise. He was charged with four offences. According to reports, at about 8:30 pm officers went to the Longdenville home of Alexis to execute a search warrant. Alexis was charged with the use of obscene language at his home, the use of obscene language at the police station, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.

Officers later went to Bagna Trace, Chase Village where they arrested a 30-year-old man wanted for a recent murder in San Fernando. The officers went to another Chase Village home where they seized a quantity of marijuana and ammunition. Several drug dens were also raided and homes in Longdenville and Edinburgh 500 were also searched during the exercise which ended at midnight. The exercise was lead by Insp Raphael, Sgt Housend and Ag Sgt Agith Persad. Those arrested will appear before a Chaguanas magistrate today.
