One warded, four treated after Valencia crash

ONE PERSON is warded at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital in serious condition and four others treated at the Sangre Grande General Hospital after a head-on collision between two vehicles on the Valencia stretch Friday night.

Carolyn Mahadoo of Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the accident had to be transferred to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she is warded in serious condition. Damien Taylor, the driver of the taxi in which Mahadoo was travelling, was treated for injuries to both feet at the Sangre Grande General Hospital. Other passengers included Alana Bhola of Valencia who received cuts to her forehead and other injuries to her body, Natasha Munroe who suffered neck injuries and Alan Munroe who received cuts to his body. All were treated by doctors at the Sangre Grande General Hospital and discharged.

According to police reports around 8.30 pm on Friday a blue Nissan driven by Damien Taylor with four passengers was travelling west along the Valencia stretch, and a blue Hunter driven by Sterlin Lowe was proceeding east when he lost control of his vehicle and ran into the other vehicle. The injured were taken by members of the Emergency Health Service ambulances and rushed to the Sangre Grande General Hospital.
